The AA Visiting School

The AA Visiting School programmes are a highly flexible and in many ways extreme version of the famed yearlong AA unit system.

By taking the AA’s acclaimed unit-based teaching format, the AA Visiting Schools Programme allows a global audience of participants to confront, in short-course format, the leading issues shaping architecture, design and urban culture at the outset of the twenty-first century. These schools focus on local issues – culture, environment, economy, society – and follow the design methodologies developed at the Architectural Association.

Regardless of geography, what all the programmes share are exciting and radical levels of invention and experimentation. All will help develop skills in different modes of analogue and digital, 2D and 3D production together with an in depth critical understanding of the school location.

The Adriano Olivetti Foundation was established in 1962 by Adriano Olivetti’s relatives, friends, and collaborators, with the aim of mobilizing and developing the civil, social, and political engagement that distinguished his work.

Over its 50 years of history, making it the second oldest foundation in Italy, the Foundation has sponsored and collaborated on projects, studies, and research campaigns together with the most important Italian, European and American Universities and Foundations. Since its establishment, the Foundation has always seen its complex and enormously valuable cultural heritage as a creative instrument, useful for rigorously interpreting contemporary social challenges and the reforming passion of the Olivettian experience, oriented toward the most active and independent research of world culture.

Since 2008, , the Foundation has been promoting the Unesco nomination of Ivrea, industrial city of XX century,  together with the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage and the City of Ivrea.
